This week we continue with our exploration and practice of the value of Service. As members of our Catholic school community, we are each called to serve in unique and meaningful ways. This calling invites us to reflect Christ’s love through our actions, whether in the classroom, on the playground, or within our community.
Serving others is at the heart of our mission. It’s about nurturing relationships, fostering understanding, and making a positive impact in the lives of our students and each other. Every act of kindness, every moment of support, and every lesson taught contributes to a culture of compassion and service.
Let’s continue to embrace this calling together, inspiring our students to not only learn but also to love and serve one another.
Thank you for your commitment to practicing these values with your children at home.
This week our students are engaging with their final assessments for 2024. We undertake assessments in Spelling, Reading, Writing and Maths. We are always excited to see how much progress each child has made. We know it can sometimes be a little stressful for some children so here’s how, as a parent, you can support your child in a positive way during assessment week:
-
Remind them that you’re proud of their effort and that assessments don’t define their worth.
-
Let them know that all you expect is their best effort, not perfection and assure them that you’re proud of their hard work.
-
Celebrate every small achievement
-
By being positive and encouraging, you’ll help them feel more confident.
We look forward to sharing their progress with you in their end of year reports and in their Learning Journey Books.
As we journey towards the end of the year things can get really busy so please keep a check on our calendar and on Facebook for updates of events and activities.

TEACHERS DAY
To the guides who light our way, With patience, heart, and words to say— To spark the dreams in every mind, They lift us up, no child left behind.
Through every question, every doubt, They teach what life is all about. They lead with kindness, firm yet fair, And show us wisdom everywhere.
From history’s tales to science facts, They give us tools, they’ve got our backs. Through sleepless nights and early days, They help us find our voices, ways.
With pens and books, with heart and soul, They shape us till we’re strong and whole. So here’s to teachers, near and far, Who show us just how bright we are.
Thank you, teachers, for all you do, Our lives are brighter thanks to you.

Teacher Only Day and Professional Learning
You will be aware that the Government has developed two new curriculum documents. One for English and one for Maths. These are required to be implemented from the beginning of 2025. The Maths document was released to us in draft form just prior to our designated Teacher Only Day. We unpacked the new document and matched it to our current Maths Skills Profiles. We explored what is required for each phase of the curriculum.
You will be more familiar with Curriculum Levels as you see in our school reporting. From next year this language will change and there will be three phases
It will take us some time to adapt to the new model and to develop an overview to share with you. There is some change of what is expected at certain year levels and we will be developing our programme to reflect this. We have always been committed to maths as part of our Vital Curriculum model along with reading and writing and will continue to upskill teachers and parents on the new expectations.
Professional Learning- This year our teachers have also attended Twilight KÅrero- these are professional development sessions offered by the Archdiocese Education Team. Our focus this year has been Social Justice. Our Team have developed a deeper understanding of Catholic Social teaching and have been delighted with how well it has helped in our Connected Curriculum. We are looking forward to seeing what our final session on Tuesday evening holds in store for us.

GLOW DISCO
On Thursday 24 October we held our first disco in our newly reopened hall. The staff worked really hard to prepare an event that would be fun, exciting and a great chance to gather with friends and dance to help raise funds to support the Year 7/8 Camp later this term. The hall looked amazing thanks to Mrs Neville, Mrs Hailwood and the teachers who spent the afternoon decorating the hall with streamers, balloons and lights.
The students were also very excited to see the staff in their GLOW Tee- shirts and watching them dance.
Thanks to all those who worked so hard selling tickets, drinks, glow toys, lollies and sausages.
On behalf of the Year 7/8 students We are very grateful for your support.
