Welcome to week 8- This week is a very special week for our school community. After 13 years we are finally ready to re-open our hall.
On Friday Archbishop Paul Martin will bless and officially re-open our new hall with invited guests, our staff and students.
We are then looking forward to inviting you, our school whānau, to join us in the hall for our Assembly on Monday 16 September at 1.30pm. This will be a wonderful chance for us to welcome you back after so long not being able to cater for visitors at our special events or assemblies.
My sincere gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to make this refurbishment of our hall possible- the efforts have been amazing from pleading our case with the diocese and navigating the process with the Parish. Once the hall was gifted to the school, staff worked tirelessly to prepare it for renovation – this meant emptying the hall of everything – planning the Trash and Treasure Sale- disposing of all the final bits and pieces.
In December the amazing transformation began and the effort of all those who have been part of this have our sincere thanks. A special mention to the team at Maycroft Construction for the way in which they collaborated so positively with the school to ensure we have the best possible space to celebrate, perform and most importantly to gather.

When I think of the journey we have been on I know St Claudine has been looking out for us and for her guidance we say
How Good God Is.

Our Sacramental Journey

Congratulations to the 18 students who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday. It was lovely to celebrate with the community of St Patrick’s. A special thanks to the Liturgy team and the choir of St Patrick’s for their amazing planning and beautiful singing. It certainly made the mass very special for our candidates.
The journey is now complete for these young people who are now full members of the Catholic Church. Thanks to Mrs Cabrera who has taught the lessons for these students, to Miss Braid for her amazing photography and to the staff who have attended the ceremonies to support their students.
We had planned to hold our Science Fair on Friday 13 September however this date now clashes with the blessing and re-opening of our school hall. Our new date is Friday 20 September. This will now be able to take place in the hall. We look forward to sharing all the amazing learning our students have done throughout the term.

The hall will be open from 9.00-4.00pm for whānau to come and celebrate the amazing work of our ākonga.

Capital Football Festival

On Tuesday 27 August two teams of Year 7/8 attended the Football Festival at Walter Nash Stadium. This event was to give students the opportunity to participate rather than compete. Our students had a wonderful time as did their teacher who told us all he even scored a goal as part of the parents and teacher's team. Well done Mr. Wagner.

I had fun at the Capital Football Festival. Some of my friends on my team were Beau, Bella, Lilly-Rose and Ian. I loved being on offence and trying to score goals. I enjoyed passing the ball to my friends and even scoring two goals!
