Newsletter Week 3

Term 3, 29 July 2025

Kia Ora, Talofa lava, Bula vinaka, Namaste, Taloha Ni, Malo e lelei, Ni hao, Kia Orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Kumusta,

Last Friday we were delighted to share a special morning with our Grandparents. It was lovely to see so many come to school to share some special time with their grandchildren. As I said on Friday at Mass- Grandparents are a real blessing for their grandchildren- and grandchildren are truly a blessing to their grandparents. Check out our photos of this special day.
Our value for the fortnight is “Respect” We talk a lot about respect and what it looks like – this time we are talking about respect for others, respect for self and respect for difference. Our community is made up of a wide range of people and we want your children to know that despite the differences we may see or notice each and every person is made in the image and likeness of God and every person deserves our respect. At our staff prayer yesterday Ms Pamintuan shared the story of Jesus meeting the woman at the well (John 4: 1-26). That story shows us what respect looks like:
Jesus spoke to a Samaritan- even though Jews and Samaritans were enemies
He talked to a woman with a troubled past, showing her she still mattered
He listened to her questions, treated her with dignity and offered her hope
He saw her as a person, not a problem and gave her the same love he offers everyone.
Respect means listening, being kind and seeing others the way God sees them- with compassion and hope. When we follow Jesus’ example we build bridges instead of walls. We help others feel seen, heard and loved no matter our differences.

Have a great week

Attendance Report Term 2

Lateness continues to be an issue for some families. Please make an effort to get your children to school before the bell. The start of the day is important for students to connect and prepare for learning.
We understand that our attendance will always drop during a winter term due to sickness. Last term we experienced a wave of illness with both students and staff.
Knowing if your child is well enough to go to school can be tricky. Health guidance to support you to decide is available on this link Well enough for school? . If you are still unsure, get in touch with us and let’s work together to support your learner.

If you're struggling at home with getting your child to school, talk to us.
If you are finding it hard to get your child to school, please talk with us so we can work together. Our school is committed to supporting your child to attend school.
Our school continues to build a culture that fosters attendance every day by having:
  • School staff who have strong relationships with students and family.
  • A school culture that recognises your child and your family for who you are, where you come from and what you value.
  • A school whānau that takes all practical steps to make sure your child is at school and progressing in their learning.
  • A school that is safe and welcoming for everyone in our school community.
If you have any attendance queries and issues, please contact us so we can work together.
